If you think about it, #BYOD started the chain of events that led to today’s unsecured #IoT devices.

The demand for handheld control over our daily lives, ala Dick Tracy, has led to a much less secure workplace and daily life.

A recent article https://tek.io/2q5faI7 in which “risk pros” were surveyed stated that almost all of them agreed that IoT #cyberattack would be ‘catastrophic’ for their business.

Many of them also expect that a data breach caused by an unsecured IoT device is likely to occur in the next 24 months.

Manufacturers are jumping onto the IoT bandwagon to drive up revenues.

However, the necessary safeguards and standard development are not moving at the same pace.

We need to stop, assess, and safe-guard ourselves before we go too far.

As Jeff Goldblum said in Jurassic Park, “Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.”
